Recently the police department has received a number of bicycle theft reports. The thefts are occurring at bike racks around the campus. The bicycles being targeted are those secured to the bike rack with a cable and lock. W e recommend that you secure your bike with the “U” type lock which is hard to defeat. Officer Bosworth, of the District Police Department, developed a suspect and shared this information with Fresno PD which resulted in the PD conducting follow-up investigation and arresting two individuals. One suspect was stealing the bicycles and taking them to the second suspect who was dismantling them and selling the parts on Craiglist. Because of this, we were only able to identify one bicycle taken from our campus. If you see anyone hanging around a bike rack with no apparent reason for being there, please contact the District police at 442-8201. Thank you
